Safety at a water park is everyone's responsibility — the lifeguards, the operators, and the parents. This guide is a practical handbook for families: what to check before you ride, how to spot risks, and how to teach kids the habits that keep them safe in any pool or slide.
1. Introduction
Most water park accidents are preventable. They happen when guests skip the rules, ignore their own limits, or assume that someone else is watching. At Jaldhara, our lifeguards are trained — but they cannot replace a parent's eye on their child.
"Stay close, stay aware, and the day stays safe."
2. Lifeguards and Supervision
Every major attraction has a lifeguard on duty. Look for the orange uniforms and the rescue tubes. They blow a whistle for two reasons: to stop unsafe behaviour, and to call for help. If you hear a whistle, stop and look around.
Lifeguards rotate every 30 minutes to stay sharp. The best response to an instruction is a thumbs up — never an argument.
3. Height and Age Requirements
Each ride has a posted minimum height and weight. These are not suggestions:
- Mini slides: 90 cm and above
- Family raft: 110 cm and above
- High-thrill slides: 120 cm and above; ages 8+
- Adult-only slides: 16+ years and confident swimmer
4. Pool and Slide Rules
- One rider per slide unless the ride is rated for two
- Always go feet-first on body slides
- Keep arms inside the tube on raft slides
- Wait for the green signal at the top of every slide
- Never run around the pool deck
- No diving in shallow zones
5. Sun Protection
Ahmedabad sun is no joke. Apply waterproof sunscreen (SPF 50+) at least 20 minutes before entering the water and reapply every two hours. Wear a UV-protective swim shirt for kids and use a wide-brim hat during shade breaks.
6. Hydration and Food Safety
Water around you is not water for you. Sip from a bottle every 20 to 30 minutes. Avoid heavy meals before slides — light snacks and fruit are better. Wait at least 20 minutes after a meal before a high-thrill ride.
7. What to Do in an Emergency
If your child is missing, head to the nearest lifeguard immediately. Our staff has a defined missing-child protocol: a description goes out park-wide and security checks the exits within 90 seconds.
For injuries, the on-site first-aid station is at the food court entrance. Call +91-97697 72000 from anywhere in the park for urgent help.
8. Teaching Kids Water Safety
Before you arrive, walk through these with your child:
- Always check the depth before jumping in
- Tell mom or dad before going on any new ride
- Wave to the lifeguard if you feel tired
- If you see something unsafe, stop and ask an adult
- Never push or splash someone unexpectedly
9. Final Safety Checklist
- Sunscreen applied and packed for re-application
- Emergency phone numbers saved on your phone
- Meeting point chosen with kids in case of separation
- Refillable water bottle and snack ready
- Phone, wallet, and keys locked in the locker
Safety is the easy part once you have a plan. Have a great day at Jaldhara — we want to see you back next weekend.
